CMM Inspector – Precision Machining

Location: Willenhall
Job type: Permanent, full-time
Salary: £38,000 - £42,000

The opportunity

ABS Talent is recruiting a CMM Inspector on behalf of a well-established precision machining client, inspecting components supplied into motorsport, automotive, defence and other high-precision sectors.

This is a great opportunity for a confident, competent inspector to join a busy quality team, working closely with the engineering team day to day on a high throughput of complex, varied components.

The role

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of a wide variety of precision machined components
• CMM inspection using Aberlink software, including generating CMM programs to measure components in CNC mode
• Manually measure parts using conventional equipment – verniers, micrometers, bore mics, gauges and callipers
• Read technical drawings and interpret geometric features and tolerances (strong GD&T knowledge essential)
• Write CofCs, ISIRs and FAIRs, and raise concessions where required
• Document quality issues and report non-conformances
• Compile detailed inspection reports
• Work with materials including aluminium, steel, castings and cast iron
• Comply with all quality, safety and company standards

About you

• Proven experience as a CMM Inspector in a precision machining environment (essential)
• Experience with Aberlink software (essential)
• Experience generating CMM programs (essential)
• Expert ability to read engineering drawings and interpret GD&T
• Strong knowledge of measuring equipment and inspection reporting
• Expert knowledge of FAIRs
• Confident, methodical and quality-focused, able to work self-sufficiently and with the engineering team
• Manual handling / lifting equipment training an advantage (can be provided)
