General Manager - Pest Control

General Manager – Sales & Operations
Pest Control Industry
We are currently recruiting for an experienced General Manager to take ownership of sales performance and day-to-day operations across a growing group of pest control businesses.
The successful candidate will work directly with the Director/Owner, taking responsibility for operational leadership and commercial performance across multiple locations. This will allow the Director to focus primarily on sourcing, negotiating and completing further acquisitions.
About the Business
The business is a growing group of pest control companies, expanding through a combination of organic growth and strategic acquisitions. Each trading business retains its own established local identity while benefiting from the wider group's resources, systems and support.
The group currently operates across three hubs in the North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands, collectively serving more than 1,500 commercial pest control customers.
The business is on a significant growth trajectory, with recurring revenue currently around £690,000 and a target of approximately £2.2 million by Q4 2027.
Growth will come through a combination of expanding the existing businesses and completing further acquisitions.
The Director currently divides their time between acquisitions and day-to-day operational leadership. This role has been created to take ownership of the operational side of the business, providing the successful candidate with significant autonomy and responsibility.
The Role
We are looking for a General Manager who can take ownership of sales and day-to-day operations across all three existing hubs, rather than focusing on a single location.
Reporting directly to the Director/owner, you will become the operational and commercial backbone of the group, responsible for driving sales, improving operational performance and ensuring consistency across the businesses.
This is a field-based, multi-site position, requiring regular travel between the group's locations, as well as future acquisition sites as the business continues to grow.
The successful candidate will have the autonomy to run the business day to day while being accountable for delivering agreed commercial and operational targets.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Business Growth
Take ownership of the sales pipeline across all locations, including B2B outbound sales, quoting, conversion and account development.
Develop and implement an upselling and cross-selling strategy across the existing recurring customer base, including opportunities such as specialist treatments, fumigation and proofing.
Monitor customer retention and reduce churn, with customer churn treated as a formal KPI.
Operations
Oversee the day-to-day operations across all locations, working closely with hub-level teams and technicians.
Drive technician productivity and route density, with direct accountability for revenue-per-technician targets at each location.
Take ownership of pricing discipline, ensuring a consistent approach to repricing and price escalation so that margins are protected as operating costs increase.
Roll out group-wide automation across the businesses, including processes such as quoting-to-invoicing, statements, compliance documentation and certificate distribution.
Acquisition Integration
As the group continues to acquire additional pest control businesses, you will play a key role in integrating newly acquired companies into the wider group.
You will lead the 90-day onboarding process, ensuring newly acquired businesses adopt the group's systems, processes and operating standards, while working closely with the Director throughout the acquisition and integration process.
Reporting & Performance
Own the group's monthly KPI dashboard and use the information to actively drive business decisions.
Key measures will include revenue per technician, EBITDA by location, customer numbers and customer churn.
Report regularly to the Director on performance against agreed targets and identify areas where further improvement or intervention is required.
What We're Looking For
Essential Experience
We are looking for an experienced commercial and operational leader with a proven track record of growing a pest control business from approximately £1 million to £5 million+ in turnover, ideally within a General Manager, Head of Sales or equivalent senior commercial/operational position.
Hands-on experience within the pest control industry is strongly preferred, although candidates from closely comparable route-based field-service sectors such as hygiene, facilities management, waste or trades may also be considered.
You will need demonstrable experience leading B2B sales, including building a sales pipeline, securing commercial contracts and increasing account value.
Strong operational management experience is essential, particularly around technician productivity, route planning, scheduling efficiency and pricing discipline.
The successful candidate must be comfortable operating across multiple sites without a fixed office and be willing to travel regularly between locations.
You should also be data-literate and confident taking ownership of a KPI dashboard and using business data to make decisions and drive performance.
Most importantly, you will need a hands-on, entrepreneurial mindset and be comfortable working within a small, owner-led and rapidly growing business.
Desirable Experience
Experience integrating an acquired business into a wider group's systems, processes and culture would be advantageous.
Familiarity with field-service software, including job management/CRM systems and invoicing or accounting platforms, would also be beneficial.
Experience designing technician incentive, certification or training schemes would be desirable.
Relevant industry accreditation, such as BPCA, would be advantageous, although candidates without this may be considered if they are willing to work towards an appropriate qualification.
Salary & Package
Location & Travel
This is a field-based role with no fixed office.
You will divide your time between locations across the North East, Yorkshire and the Midlands, as well as future acquisition sites as the business expands.
Candidates must be comfortable with extensive travel across the North of England and Midlands and should ideally live in a location that makes regular travel to the existing hubs practical.
How to Apply
Candidates should apply with a CV and a short covering note outlining their pest control or comparable field-service experience.
Please specifically highlight your experience of growing a business from approximately £1 million to £5 million+ in turnover, including the role you personally played in achieving that growth.
