The Role

The Head of Human Resources is responsible for developing and delivering the Group's People Strategy, ensuring the organisation has the capability, culture, leadership and resources required to support sustained business growth.

Supporting approximately 300 PAYE employees across six operational locations, the role provides strategic leadership for Human Resources, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Reception and Administrative Support functions. The Head of HR will lead and develop a multi-disciplinary people team, ensuring consistently high standards of service delivery, compliance, employee experience and organisational effectiveness.

Operating within a rapidly growing and fast-paced environment, the Head of HR will ensure that policies, procedures, systems and management capability evolve in line with business demands. Particular focus will be placed on building manager capability, strengthening accountability, improving organisational performance and embedding a high-performance culture throughout the Group.

The Head of HR will act as a trusted advisor to Directors and senior leaders, providing commercially focused people solutions that support operational objectives whilst ensuring legal compliance and best practice.

The role is accountable for ensuring the People Function delivers measurable value to the business through effective recruitment, talent development, organisational design, employee engagement, workforce planning and performance management.

Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver the Group People Strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives, growth plans and operational requirements.
• Provide strategic and operational HR leadership across all Group businesses and locations.
• Act as a trusted advisor to Directors and senior leaders on organisational design, workforce planning, employee relations and people-related risk.
• Lead and develop the HR, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Reception and Administrative Support functions.
• Coach and develop managers to strengthen leadership capability, accountability and people management effectiveness.
• Oversee complex employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, appeals, capability and organisational change processes.
• Drive a high-performance culture through effective performance management, engagement and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Lead workforce planning, succession planning and talent management activities to support future business growth.
• Oversee recruitment, onboarding and employer branding strategies to attract and retain high-quality talent.
• Develop and implement Learning & Development strategies, leadership programmes and career development pathways.
• Monitor people metrics, KPIs and workforce trends, providing insight and recommendations to senior leadership.
• Ensure HR policies, procedures and governance frameworks remain compliant, effective and commercially focused.
• Lead organisational change, restructuring, acquisitions and business integration projects where required.
• Oversee audits, compliance reviews and risk management activities across all people processes.
• Champion diversity, inclusion, wellbeing and employee engagement initiatives across the Group.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a senior HR leadership role within a fast-paced, commercially focused and growing organisation.
• Demonstrable success in developing and implementing People Strategies that support organisational growth and performance.
• Extensive knowledge of UK employment law, HR best practice and employee relations.
• Significant experience leading multi-disciplinary teams across HR, Recruitment and Learning & Development functions.
• Proven ability to influence, coach and challenge senior leaders and managers at all levels.
• Experience leading organisational change, cultural transformation, restructures and business integrations.
• Strong workforce planning, organisational design and succession planning expertise.
• Commercially minded with the ability to align people strategies to operational and financial objectives.
• Strong analytical skills with experience producing and presenting workforce metrics, KPIs and management information.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, project management and leadership capabilities.

Qualifications & Training

• CIPD Level 7 qualified or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years' progressive HR experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
• Experience leading HR, Talent Acquisition and Learning & Development functions.
• Strong employment law expertise and experience supporting multi-site operations.
• GDPR training and experience working within growing, change-oriented organisations.
