Junior Electrical Engineer
Birmingham | Building Services Consultancy | Hybrid Working

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Junior Electrical Engineer to join a growing building services consultancy in Birmingham.

This independent engineering consultancy has been delivering building services solutions for over 25 years, working across healthcare, commercial, education, residential, life sciences, leisure and public sector projects.

The business has a strong reputation for technical quality, collaboration and sustainable, low-carbon design. The Birmingham office is entering an exciting period of growth, with ambitious plans to significantly expand the team over the next two years.

This is a great opportunity for an engineer with existing industry experience to join the business at an exciting stage of its growth and develop their career alongside an experienced team.

The Role
As a Junior Electrical Engineer, you will support the design and delivery of electrical building services projects across a variety of sectors.

Working alongside experienced engineers and multidisciplinary teams, you will gain exposure to projects from concept through to completion while developing your technical skills and taking on increasing responsibility.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Supporting the design of electrical building services systems including power, lighting and small power.
• Assisting with electrical design calculations and technical reports.
• Supporting the preparation of specifications and tender documentation.
• Coordinating designs with mechanical, sustainability and BIM teams.
• Attending design team meetings, client meetings and site visits.
• Supporting projects through the different RIBA stages.
• Contributing to energy-efficient and low-carbon design solutions.
• Working across sectors including healthcare, commercial, education and residential.

About You
Previous professional experience in electrical engineering or building services is required. This is not a graduate position.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience within an electrical engineering or building services environment.
• A degree, HNC or HND in Electrical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Some experience designing or assisting with electrical building services systems.
• Knowledge of software such as AutoCAD, Amtech, Dialux or similar.
• Revit competency is desirable.
• An understanding of relevant building regulations and industry standards.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A willingness to learn and develop technically.
• An interest in progressing towards professional accreditation.
