Job Description:

Our client is seeking an experienced Learning and Development Manager to establish and lead the organisation’s learning, development and performance development activity. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for designing and delivering learning solutions, supporting managers with performance development, and ensuring learning initiatives are aligned with wider business objectives.
Working closely with senior leaders, managers and employees, you will identify learning and development needs, develop and deliver engaging training programmes, and monitor their effectiveness through data and feedback. A key focus of the role will be embedding a strong performance development culture across the organisation, ensuring managers are confident in setting meaningful objectives, holding regular performance conversations and supporting employees with their development.

Responsibilities

• Lead the organisation’s learning and performance development strategy, ensuring it is aligned with wider business objectives and people priorities.
• Partner with senior leaders, managers and department heads to identify learning, capability and performance needs, using training needs analysis to inform L&D activity.
• Coach and support managers and supervisors to effectively manage performance, including objective setting, 1:1s, performance reviews, development plans and addressing performance gaps.
• Design, develop and deliver engaging learning programmes, workshops and training sessions using a range of face-to-face and digital approaches.
• Manage mandatory and compliance training requirements, ensuring learning is completed within required timescales and that appropriate records and reporting are maintained.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of L&D activity through feedback, data, dashboards and performance reporting, providing recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support wider people initiatives including onboarding, career development, leadership development, mentoring and organisational change, while managing relationships with external training providers where required.
• Manage L&D budgets, resources and logistics, keep up to date with L&D trends and technologies, and identify opportunities to improve the organisation’s learning offering.

Skills & Experience

• Proven experience in a Learning & Development, Talent Development or similar role, with experience developing and implementing L&D strategies and programmes.
• Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design and effective learning methodologies.
• Proven experience designing and delivering engaging training, with excellent facilitation, presentation and communication skills.
• Strong coaching and mentoring skills, with experience supporting managers and leaders to improve performance and capability.
• Experience implementing or enhancing performance management or performance development frameworks.
• Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with the ability to build credibility and influence at all levels.
• Experience conducting training needs analysis and using data, feedback and insight to evaluate learning effectiveness and identify improvements.
• Highly organised and self-motivated, with strong time management, attention to detail, problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
• Experience managing compliance or mandatory training, learning technologies/LMS platforms and digital learning solutions would be advantageous.

Education & Qualifications

• CIPD Level 5 or above, or an equivalent L&D, HR or people development qualification, is desirable.
• Relevant qualification or professional training in Learning & Development, Training, Coaching, Talent Development or a related discipline would be advantageous.
