Project Manager – Temp to Perm

Location: Birmingham (with remote working & travel)
Salary: Competitive, depending on experience

We are working with an established maintenance and drainage contractor who is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join their team on a temp-to-perm basis.

The company specialises in drainage installation and associated groundworks on supermarket sites, so candidates with a background in groundworks/civils and retail environments will be particularly well suited to the role.

This is a varied position for a Project Manager who is comfortable managing projects from start to finish, coordinating subcontractors and site teams, dealing with clients and overseeing works across multiple locations.

The Role

As Project Manager, you will be responsible for managing drainage and groundworks projects, predominantly across supermarket and retail sites, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time and within budget.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Managing drainage installation and associated groundworks projects from instruction through to completion
• Coordinating subcontractors, site teams, suppliers and other stakeholders
• Planning programmes, labour and resources
• Monitoring project costs, budgets and variations
• Liaising with supermarket/retail clients and maintaining strong working relationships
• Carrying out site visits and overseeing works on active retail sites
• Ensuring health & safety and quality standards are maintained
• Managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
• Providing regular project updates and reporting
• Identifying and resolving issues to keep projects on track

About You

We are looking for a confident and organised Project Manager with relevant experience in groundworks, drainage, civils or retail construction/maintenance.

You will ideally have:

• Previous experience working as a Project Manager
• A background in groundworks, drainage, civils or construction
• Experience working on retail/supermarket sites would be highly advantageous
• Experience managing subcontractors and site teams
• Good commercial and organisational awareness
• Excellent communication and client management skills
• The ability to manage multiple projects at once
• A full UK driving licence
• Flexibility and willingness to travel to project sites as required

Location & Working Arrangements

They are looking for someone located around Birmingham, with a combination of remote working and travel to sites.

Projects are carried out across supermarket and retail locations nationwide, so you must be comfortable travelling to different sites as required.
