Senior / Associate Building Surveyor
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)
Salary: £50,000 – £65,000 + Bonus (dependent on experience)

Joshua Robert is partnering with Godwin Powell to appoint a Senior Building Surveyor. This is a senior appointment for an experienced, RICS-chartered professional to take a leading technical and client-facing role within one of the UK's fastest-growing building consultancy businesses.

The Opportunity
Godwin Powell is looking for an experienced Senior Building Surveyor to join the practice. As a Senior Building Surveyor, you will take ownership of complex professional instructions across the firm's full client base, from institutional investors and private property owners to some of the world's most recognisable brands.

Working directly with the business's directors, you will take a lead role in delivering technically excellent, commercially sound advice across a wide range of asset classes, from commercial portfolios to high-value private instructions. Day-to-day, that means leading your own instructions from brief through to completion, while also helping to shape the growth of the business and mentor the wider surveying team.

Key Responsibilities

• Leading building surveys and condition reports across a wide range of asset classes, from commercial portfolios to high-value private instructions
• Directing due diligence and acquisition support for institutional and private clients, covering fund monitoring, technical risk and portfolio appraisal
• Diagnosing defects and specifying remediation, taking ownership of complex or high-value instructions through to completion
• Administering contracts on behalf of clients, managing programmes, cost and quality on site
• Advising on party wall and neighbourly matters, managing the statutory process for building and adjoining owners
• Providing project management support on refurbishment, fit-out and capital works, working alongside the firm's PM capability
• Collaborating with the in-house design team on lease plans, measured surveys and specification drawings
• Supporting and mentoring junior surveyors, contributing to their technical development
• Building and maintaining senior client relationships that generate repeat instructions and referrals

The Ideal Candidate

• MRICS Qualified
• A proven track record delivering building surveys, due diligence and contract administration across a range of asset classes
• Comfortable operating with autonomy, taking ownership of instructions from initial brief through to completion
• Strong commercial awareness, confident advising clients on fee structures, programme and risk alongside the technical detail
• Experience mentoring or developing junior surveyors is advantageous
• A collaborative, curious and driven approach, in keeping with Godwin Powell's ambition to do things differently

Remuneration & Benefits

• Competitive base salary of £50,000 – £65,000, commensurate with experience and qualification level, plus bonus
