Teaching Assistant – Primary School

Smile Education are currently recruiting for a Teaching Assistant to join a primary school in Halesowen, with an immediate start available.

We are looking for a qualified Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children's learning and development. This is a general Teaching Assistant role working across all year groups, rather than a dedicated 1:1 SEN position.

The successful candidate will provide classroom support, work with pupils in small groups and assist the class teacher with the day-to-day learning and development of pupils. There will be children with SEN and additional needs within the classes and groups, so confidence supporting pupils with a range of needs is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and learning across the primary age range
• Working alongside class teachers to support pupils in the classroom
• Providing small-group and targeted learning support
• Supporting pupils with SEN and additional needs within the classroom
• Helping pupils remain engaged and focused on their learning
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom routines
• Assisting with activities and resources
• Building positive relationships with pupils and staff
• Working flexibly across different year groups and classes

Requirements

• Level 2 qualification or above relevant to education/Teaching Assistant work
• Previous experience working with children, preferably within a primary school setting
• A caring, patient and nurturing approach
• Good communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to support pupils across different ages and abilities
• Confidence supporting children with SEN is desirable
• A professional and reliable approach to work
