The Role

The HR Officer plays a crucial role in ensuring the effective management and development of the human resources throughout the Group. This position involves a variety of tasks that support the organisation’s HR operations, including recruitment, employee relations, performance management, compliance, and HR policy implementation. The HR Officer will work closely with both employees and management to create a productive and positive work environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide professional HR advice and guidance to managers and employees across the Group on employee relations, policies and employment law.
• Manage employee relations matters, including disciplinary, grievance, absence management, performance management and appeals.
• Support and coach managers in conducting investigations, fact finds, formal meetings and employee-related decision making.
• Monitor absence levels across the business, managing triggers and supporting the reduction of sickness absence.
• Lead and coordinate recruitment activities for hourly and salaried vacancies, ensuring compliance with best practice and employment legislation.
• Deliver onboarding and corporate induction programmes, ensuring a positive and consistent employee experience.
• Ensure all contractual documentation, employee lifecycle changes and HR records are processed accurately and within statutory timescales.
• Produce and analyse HR metrics and management reports covering recruitment, attrition, absence, probation reviews and workforce trends.
• Support payroll administration, including timesheet processing, payroll inputs and related financial documentation.
• Conduct exit interviews and provide management with feedback and recommendations to support retention initiatives.
• Develop and continuously improve HR policies, procedures and people-related processes.
• Ensure compliance with employment law, GDPR, Equality Act requirements and company policies.
• Promote a positive organisational culture, championing diversity, equality, inclusion and company values.
• Support the development, coaching and performance of HR team members and people managers across the business.
• Deliver training and awareness initiatives relating to HR processes, employee relations and data protection.

Technical Skills & Experience

• Minimum five years' experience within a generalist HR role.
• Strong working knowledge of UK employment law and HR best practice.
• Proven experience managing employee relations cases, including disciplinaries, grievances, absence and performance management.
• Experience supporting recruitment, onboarding and employee lifecycle processes.
• Good understanding of payroll processes and HR administration.
• Excellent communication, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong organisational, planning and time management abilities.
• High levels of confidentiality, professionalism and attention to detail.
• Proactive, self-motivated with excellent problem-solving, coaching and mentoring capabilities.

Qualifications & Training

• CIPD Level 3 Foundation qualification or above.
• Fluent written and spoken English.
• GDPR/Data Protection training.
• Competent user of Microsoft Office and HR systems.
