£30,000 – £33,000 + Pension + 25 Days Holiday

Are you an experienced Purchasing Co-ordinator, Buyer or Supply Chain professional looking for a new opportunity within a well-established manufacturing environment?

Our client is looking for a proactive and commercially aware Purchasing Co-ordinator to join their team in South Birmingham. This is a varied role where you will play an important part in managing suppliers, purchasing activity, material requirements and delivery schedules, while working closely with internal departments to keep operations running smoothly.

This would suit someone who enjoys taking ownership, solving problems and building effective supplier relationships, rather than simply processing purchase orders.

The Role

As Purchasing Co-ordinator, you will be responsible for supporting the business with the day-to-day management of supplier and material-related activity.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Managing supplier-related issues including sourcing, pricing, MRP and delivery schedules
• Maintaining accurate and up-to-date information within the ERP system
• Running regular MRP processes and ensuring the system is effectively utilised
• Managing supplier prices and quotations
• Raising purchase orders and liaising with suppliers to ensure deliveries are received on time
• Working closely with Stores to support accurate stock analysis and inventory control
• Ensuring goods are booked into the ERP system accurately and promptly
• Supporting the New Business team with RFQs
• Managing material flows for NPI and other projects as required
• Supporting inbound and outbound logistics administration
• Identifying opportunities to improve processes and eliminate waste
• Working closely with other departments to resolve issues and maintain effective material flow

About You

Our client is looking for someone with previous purchasing or supply chain experience, ideally gained within a manufacturing environment.

You will need:

• Experience working with an ERP/MRP system
• A good understanding of purchasing, inventory and material requirements
• Strong Excel and general IT skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Confidence dealing and negotiating with suppliers
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities
• A commercially aware and proactive approach
• The ability to investigate problems, find solutions and take ownership rather than simply administer a process

The Package

• Salary: £30,000 – £33,000
• 25 days' annual holiday
• Pension
• Monday to Thursday: 8:00am – 5:00pm / Friday: 8:00am – 1:00pm
• Permanent, full-time position
• Annual stock take support required on the first Saturday in May
