Project: Refurbishment and upgrade works to a retail goods lift within a live shopping centre
Location: Birmingham, West Midlands
Duration: 2.5 Weeks
Job Type: Freelance / Contract

Experience:

• Extensive construction industry experience with at least 5 years working as a Site Manager
• Proven track record delivering lift refurbishment, M&E upgrade, commercial refurbishment or live environment projects
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installations, health & safety requirements, permit-to-work systems and quality control procedures within live retail or commercial environments

The Opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee the delivery of refurbishment works to a retail goods lift within a live shopping centre. You will be responsible for coordinating subcontractors, managing day-to-day site operations, ensuring compliance with health and safety procedures, and maintaining programme and quality standards throughout the project. Previous experience delivering lift refurbishment, M&E upgrade or commercial refurbishment projects within occupied or live operational environments is highly desirable.

Key Responsibilities

• Attend and contribute to site progress meetings
• Provide regular progress updates to the Project Manager
• Maintain site records, permits and project documentation
• Conduct site inductions, toolbox talks and daily safety briefings
• Coordinate daily site activities, subcontractors and specialist trades
• Monitor programme and resolve site issues to maintain project progress
• Coordinate materials, plant and labour to ensure efficient delivery of works
• Liaise with the client, shopping centre management and other key stakeholders
• Oversee testing, commissioning and completion of the lift refurbishment works
• Manage inspections and promptly address any identified defects or compliance issues
• Monitor quality standards and ensure works are completed in accordance with specifications
• Ensure compliance with Health & Safety requirements, permits and asbestos-related procedures
